Gartner’s 2026 Magic Quadrant Signals a Shift Toward “Agentic” Analytics Platforms

Gartner published its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, naming ThoughtSpot, Qlik and Looker among the Leaders (Qlik’s 16th consecutive year in that position). The bigger story is qualitative: this year’s report explicitly reframes evaluation criteria around AI-powered agents, semantic governance and integration with cloud data ecosystems, rather than traditional dashboarding — a clear signal that “agentic analytics” is now the industry’s dominant framing for where BI is headed.
